At approximately 2:15 p.m., the Dagsboro Volunteer Fire Company (Station 73) was dispatched to the scene of a motor vehicle collision involving two vehicles. The crash took place near the intersection of Gum Tree Road and a rural stretch of Sussex County. Responding alongside Dagsboro were the Frankford Fire Company (Station 76), Millsboro Fire Company (Station 83), Sussex County EMS (Medic 103 – Dagsboro), and Delaware State Police Aviation Unit (Trooper 2).
Emergency responders arrived to find two vehicles with significant damage. Firefighters worked to stabilize the scene, extricate occupants from the wreckage, and control fluid leaks and traffic flow. Two individuals sustained injuries in the crash. One victim was airlifted by Trooper 2 to a nearby trauma center, while the second was transported by ambulance to a local hospital for further treatment. The extent of their injuries has not been released at this time.
Delaware State Police are investigating the cause of the crash. No charges have been filed as of this report, and authorities have not confirmed whether speed or impairment were contributing factors. Gum Tree Rd remained partially closed for over an hour while crews cleared the scene.
